Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) design is critical for design decision-making, accurate documentation, performance and cost-estimating, construction planning, managing and operating the resulting facility. As with other aspect of buildings, MEP drafting, design and documentation were traditionally done manually. Computer-aided design had some advantages over this, in some instances including 3D modeling. Building information modeling provides a computable building model, holistic design and parametric change management of the MEP design.

Denny Howard’s broad range of responsibilities has encompassed the roles of chief electrical engineer, multidiscipline project manager, senior lead electrical project engineer, and multidiscipline construction manager. His project skills include specification writing, cost estimation, quality control auditing, scheduling, field investigation, and code/documentation research. His electrical design background includes water and wastewater utility facility projects which incorporates utility coordination, medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems, standby and emergency power distribution systems, computer-aided power system coordination studies, grounding and surge protection systems, SCADA and telemetry systems, instrumentation and control systems interior and exterior lighting systems, fire alarm and security systems, and lightning protection systems.

Jeff Thomas

Jeff Thomas, P.E., CEM, CEA, GBE

As an experienced project manager, energy manager and electrical engineer, Jeff Thomas is responsible for overall coordination, schedules and priorities at project sites. He has direct overview of the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications and shop drawings to ensure code and regulation compliance, sound engineering practices, methods and incorporation of the client's requirements. He is responsible for overall electrical engineering on selected projects, as well as project scope definition, client relations, schedule, budget and quality. In addition, Mr. Thomas offers extensive experience in project management, the design of facility upgrades and new facilities and equipment.
