Galveston Airport Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks and Force Main
Galveston, Texas
Description:
The City of Galveston contracted LAN to provide the design and construction of a proposed headworks facility at the Galveston Airport Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The headwork structure includes a fine screening unit and grit removal. The inclusion of these units reduces grit accumulation in the aeration basin and reduces Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) loading to the plant. This project also included the re-route of force mains from lift stations numbers 13, 14, and 15. These force mains will be re-routed from the existing trunk sewer entering the plant to the proposed headworks. As part of this project, the existing pumps for lift station 15 will be upgraded. LAN also designed the rehabilitation for approximately 7,500 linear feet of the trunk sewer that enters the WWTP lift station. This rehabilitation was designed to use cured-in-place sewer lining technology to reduce impacts during construction.
