City of Baytown Goose Creek Wastewater and Lift Station
Baytown, Texas
Description:
The City of Baytown's (City) Goose Creek Lift Station suffered structural and mechanical damage as a result of hydrogen sulfide corrosion. The City contracted LAN to design a rehabilitation project to address deterioration and improve the lift station's operation. LAN conducted a corrosion study with remedial alternatives evaluated for corrosion control, which consisted of chemical addition, aeration, and physical system changes.
LAN also prepared an engineering feasibility study to evaluate rehabilitation or replacement of the lift station. After presenting its findings, the City elected to maintain the lift station through rehabilitation. LAN prepared the design that included the demolition of four existing submersible pumps, suction and discharge piping, valves, and a section of the force main. Design also included installing four new self-priming pumps, piping, valves, below grade concrete vault, liquid level controls, a 15-inch influent gravity sewer, structural liner for wet well, and a control panel.
