Metro Solutions Phase 2 – Southeast Line

Description:
METRO selected LAN to conduct design development and conceptual and preliminary engineering of the Metro Solutions Phase 2 Southeast Line. METRO expects that some form of Guided Rapid Transit (GRT) will be utilized on each of the corridors.
The Southeast Corridor is approximately six miles long and connects the central business district (CBD) with the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, and the Palm Center in southeast Houston. The corridor is planned as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor with provisions for future conversion to Light Rail or Diesel Light Rail. Key crossings include the passage under IH-45 and over Brays Bayou.
The corridor is planned as a street-running BRT with boarding platforms and guideways generally within the existing center median of the following streets: Scott, Wheeler, MLK and Griggs.
