Dallas Intermodal Terminal

Description:

The Union Pacific Railroad contracted LAN to provide construction observation for a new intermodal facility on nearly 350 acres south of Dallas, Texas. The facility consisted of switching leads, receiving/departure track, support tracks, and unloading tracks. The project required the construction of trailer parking, a gate truck processing entrance, an administration building, maintenance repair and crane servicing facilities, locomotive ready and inspection facilities, and wye tracks.

This intermodal facility progressed on a fast track approach. Construction began in late spring of 2004 and was complete by August of 2005. LAN provided the following services: coordination and operational review of site infrastructure features including track work, location of utilities and underground layout, buildings, roadways, lighting and drainage structures, all other functions necessary for the timely completion of the project.
