US Courthouse Construction Management
Muskogee, Oklahoma
Description:
The U.S. General Services Administration awarded LAN the on-site construction management and inspection contract to represent the government during the construction phase of the Edmondson Federal Courts Building in Muskogee, OK. The project required complete renovation of this 120,000 square-foot structure housing the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the federal marshals' office, and the U.S. Attorney's office. Although the building had to be adapted to new anti-terrorism standards, the primary components of the structure and facade had to be preserved in accordance with its listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The restoration also removed vestibules around the historic monumental staircases to open up the main corridors to original dimensions. This required extensive evaluations of current life safety codes by LAN's architectural staff. LAN was charged with monitoring infrastructure changes such as installing up-to-date HVAC, plumbing, electrical power, and fire sprinkler/ alarm systems, while preserving and restoring the look and feel of the original construction.
