Ft. Hood Army Airfield Base Operations

Description:
LAN provided architectural and engineering services for the construction of an $18 million project to upgrade the Robert Gray Army Airfield at the Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas, in preparation for intensive troop deployment activities for support of the US War on Terror. In addition to five new apron parking locations for C5 transports, LAN consolidated two existing buildings to form a state-of-the-art troop processing and deployment center as well as a new Base Airfield Operations Center, and a pallet storage warehouse for the processing of troop support equipment.
Services involved: conducting a design charette; programming; preparing technical specifications, design drawings, and analysis documents; developing special phasing requirements; preparing a probable construction schedule; acquiring topographic survey information; developing MCACES cost estimates; and providing technical support during bidding. The design was completed in accordance with the requirements of the Southwestern Division Architectural and Engineering Instruction Manual and Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism Construction Standards.
