Since 2006, LAN has worked with the City of San Antonio to add or repair over 98 miles of sidewalk throughout the city to improve pedestrian mobility and safety. It was critical for each project to be completed on a 12-month, fast-tracked scheduled to meet internal funding requirements. To accomplish this aggressive schedule, LAN and the City worked together to coordinate with numerous City departments and external contractors. To keep each project on track, LAN coordinated directly with contractors to:

• Define project scopes
• Secure pricing
• Reduce construction delays
• Maintain schedule
• Minimize disruption to the public

Several projects experienced severe drainage issues and fluctuation in the curb profile. During the installation of the proposed flatwork, LAN coordinated directly with the contractor to set new curb profiles to alleviate ponding and drainage issues along the street. In the event significant street repair was needed as part of the flatwork construction, LAN used this new curb profile to set the edge of pavement elevations and maintain positive drainage. This work was completed with little to no survey in many locations. In total, LAN and the City completed over 330 projects which include resurfacing, utility repairs, drainage improvements, ADA improvements, signage, and striping – providing an enhanced pedestrian experience for San Antonio’s residents and visitors.
