The Coastal Water Authority (CWA), a governmental agency and political subdivision of the State of Texas, has selected Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) as its general engineering consultant (GEC).
The CWA provides raw water to the Cities of Houston, Baytown and Deer Park, as well as to approximately 100 industries. It is responsible for the operation and maintenance of two large raw water pumping stations and related pipelines, Lake Houston Dam and Reservoir, an extensive canal system which transports raw water from the Trinity River and San Jacinto River to CWA facilities, as well as a small industrial plant which provides treated water to two industries.
In its role as the GEC, LAN will provide professional engineering services for a number of CWA projects in various capacities over the next several years. This includes the Trinity River Conveyance System, Lake Houston System, Bayport Water Distribution System, and the Red Bluff Water Treatment Plant.
"We have had a long and successful relationship with the CWA over the years which have enabled us to become intimately familiar with its water supply and delivery needs," said J. Anthony Boyd, P.E., LAN's Senior Vice President. "As such, we are very excited to team up with the CWA in our new role as the General Engineering Consultant to assist in the delivery of some of the most significant water projects in the state."
