WATER PROJECT TAPS LAKE HURON

By Kevin Wilcox

Work is under way on a pipeline that will stretch from beneath Lake Huron to Flint, Michigan, providing a new water source for more than 200,000 customers in the area and establishing an optional supply for hundreds of thousands more in surrounding counties who are currently served by wells.

The project is being developed by the Karegnondi Water Authority (KWA), a public utility formed in 2010 that will supply raw water to an existing treatment plant in the City of Flint and a new treatment plant under construction nearby in
Genesee County.
